DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES
It was more than a record-setting chart sweep that began when “Where Did Our Love Go” made Diana Ross and The Supremes into household names in the summer of 1964. Along with the charmed circle of Motown singers, writers, producers and players, they re-wrote the book on pop music in the Sixties and Seventies. None of the music seemed to date itself, as Supremes songs were remade repeatedly while the originals continued to play on radio, in movies and TV. It proved this: the sound of young America spoke to the dreams of young America.

SMOKEY ROBINSON & THE MIRACLES
Of all the R&B vocal groups formed in Detroit, Michigan, USA, in the mid-50s, the Miracles proved to be the most successful. They were founded at the city’s Northern High School in 1955 by Smokey Robinson, Emerson Rogers, Bobby Rogers, Ronnie White and Warren ‘Pete’ Moore. Emerson Rogers left the following year, and was replaced by his sister Claudette, who married Smokey Robinson in 1959. Known initially as the Matadors, the group became the Miracles in 1958, when they made their initial recordings with producer Berry Gordy.

MICHAEL JACKSON & JACKSON 5
Born August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana, Michael spent nearly his entire life as a public performer. At age four he was singing with the family group; and soon became their lead vocalist and front man. Onstage, using every ounce of his old-school training, he modeled his dance moves and singing on James Brown and Jackie Wilson. Among the first groups of black American performers to attain a crossover following, preceded only by The Supremes, Four Tops and The Temptations, The Jackson 5 made history in 1970 as the first recording act whose first four singles reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, with the songs: “I Want You Back”, “ABC”, “The Love You Save” and “I’ll Be There”.

THE TEMPTATIONS
The most successful group in black music history was formed in 1961 in Detroit, Michigan,, by former members of two local R&B outfits. Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams both sangwith the Primes; Melvin Franklin, Eldridge Bryant and Otis Williams came from the Distants. Initially known as the Elgins, the quintet were renamed the Temptations by Berry Gordy when he signed them to Motown in 1961. only when they were teamed with writer, producer and performer Smokey Robinson that the Temptations achieved consistent success.

FOUR TOPS
Originally the Four Aims, in 1956 they changed their name to the Four Tops to avoid confusion with the popular singing group the Ames Brothers. Four Tops were signed to the Motown jazz subsidiary Workshop in 1963. Motown boss Berry Gordy suggested that they record with the label’s Holland/Dozier/Holland writing and production team. The initial release from this liaison was ‘Baby I Need Your Loving’, which showcased the group’s strong harmonies and the gruff, soulful lead vocals of Levi Stubbs; it reached the US Top 20. The following year, another song, ‘I Can’t Help Myself’, topped the charts, and established the Four Tops as one of Motown’s most successful groups.

STEVIE WONDER
Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Stevie Wonder moved to Detroit at an early age and has become one of that city’s most famous sons. Blind from birth, Stevie has never allowed that to be a handicap. His normal childhood activities of playing games and climbing trees with his friends were suddenly set on a different path when his amazing musical talents were spotted by Bonnie White of Smokey Robinson’s group The Miracles. White took Stevie to Motown Records and introduced him to Berry Gordy, the company’s founder, who instantly signed him in 1961. He’s been with the label ever since and recently signed a life-long deal.

MARVIN GAYE
Brilliant, enigmatic, and headstrong, Marvin Gaye was an innovator. In 2014, he would have been 75 years old, and it has been over 25 years since his tragic death. But today Marvin remains as influential and exciting as ever: Rolling Stone recently named him one of the greatest singers of all time. Gaye helped to shape the sound of Motown Records in the 1960s with a string of hits, including “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” and “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”, and duet recordings with Mary Wells and Tammi Terrell, later earning the titles “Prince of Motown” and “Prince of Soul”.

MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS
Reeves was schooled in both gospel and classical music, but it was vocal group R&B that caught her imagination. In 1961 she joined the fledgling Motown organization in Detroit. Impressed by the power and flexibility of her voice, Berry Gordy offered her the chance to record for the label, and in 1962 was given her own group under the name Martha And The Vandellas. From 1963 onwards, they became one of Motown’s most successful recording outfits, and Reeves’ strident vocals were showcased on classic hits such as “Heat Wave”, “Dancing In The Street” and “Nowhere To Run”.

MARY WELLS
Founder of the world famous “Motown Sound,” Mary Wells is considered not only one of the best female singers in the music industry, but also a vital part of the success of the prestigious label. Wells’ early years were not easy. As a small child, she suffered a bout of spinal meningitis, which left her temporarily paralyzed, with loss of hearing, and partial blindness in one eye. When she returned to good health, Wells suffered the hardship of learning to walk again. She was always grateful, however, to regain her hearing and sight.

JR. WALKER & THE ALLSTARS
Walker was inspired to take up the saxophone by the jump blues and R&B bands he heard in the early 50s. In his mid-teens, he formed his first instrumental group, the Jumping Jacks, adopting the stage name Junior Walker after a childhood nickname. By 1961 he had achieved a prominent local reputation, which reached the ear of label owner and former Moonglow, Harvey Fuqua. He signed Walker to his Harvey label, allowing him free rein to record a series of raw saxophone-led instrumentals. In 1964 Walker followed Fuqua to Motown, where he perfected a blend of raunchy R&B and Detroit soul typified by his 1965 hit, “Shotgun”.

The setting, North America's largest Catholic church (the Basilica seats 3,000), magnificently reflects the original concept of the choir whose sound is both modern and ancient. While the choir's white robes and angelic voices suggest a connection to medieval monastery schools, their repertoire is wide-ranging.

CD, BRYAN ADAMS: TRACKS OF MY YEARS
Multi-platinum recording-artist Bryan Adams has announced the release of his new covers studio album, Tracks Of My Years , a diverse collection of time-honored classics from the 50s, 60s and 70s. The album features a wide range of influential musical styles, from Chuck Berry's "Rock & Roll Music" and Ray Charles' "I Can't Stop Loving You" to the Beatles' "Any Time At All." The album also includes a brand new track entitled "She Knows Me," co-written with his long-term writing partner Jim Vallance. The Adams / Vallance partnership was responsible for many of Bryan's classic hits including "Heaven," "Summer of 69" and "Run To You."

"Making the selection of the songs for the album took a long time," noted Bryan. "We recorded all kinds of songs until the songs sort of presented themselves, or sounded different enough from the originals. We did about 3 months of recording, spread out over the course of 2 years. Radio was king when I was a teenager," Adams reflected, "you'd hear McCartney's 'Admiral Halsey' straight into 'Kiss and Say Goodbye' by the Manhattans. Radio didn't discriminate back then."

Tracks of My Years is an eclectic mix of songs reflective of the time when rock was played alongside pop, country and R&B, and follows Adams critically acclaimed acoustic album, 2010's Bare Bones , a release that resulted in sold-out shows across Europe, North America, Australia and South Africa.

Track List:
1. Any time at All
2. She Knows me
3. I Can't Stop Loving You
4. Kiss and Say Goodbye
5. Lay Lady Lay
6. Rock and Roll Music
7. Down on the Corner
