DVD, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE: THE LEGACY OF LAURA INGALLS WILDER
This very special one-hour documentary goes beyond the famed Little House book series to the behind-the-scenes, true life story of one of America’s most iconic authors, Laura Ingalls Wilder. Despite the fame and the popularity of her novels, Wilder’s personal story as a writer, wife and mother is a compelling narrative that has never been told ... until now. Here, for the first time, you can fully appreciate the life and circumstances of this uniquely America author.

Using archival photos, expert commentary, special graphic effects, and historic re-enactments filmed on location across the Midwest, this program illuminates the dramatic and heartwarming story of an American woman who lived in poverty nearly her entire life yet, at age 60, had the audacity to begin a career that would make her famous around the world.

An author who found nobility in the struggle to overcome hardship, Wilder was the first writer to give an identity and a voice to the hardscrabble American pioneer woman, a character in literature and history who had largely gone unnoticed until brought to life with words written by an authentic American pioneer girl. This special program lets you fully appreciate the life and times of this uniquely American author for the first time.

Extra material:

  • Director’s Video Diary – 8 minutes
  • Almanzo Wilder: Life Before Laura Trailer – 3 minutes

DVD, PA'S FIDDLE
Join us for an intimate evening of very special music and songs at the Loveless Barn in Nashville, Tennessee. This was the music that built America, and it was the music that Laura Ingalls Wilder heard as a child – played by her pa on his fiddle – throughout her family’s adventures on America’s vast prairies in the years just after the Civil War, celebrated in her beloved Little House on the Prairie books.

Laura and her family heard this music under the vast western sky, by the potbelly stoves of their many houses, at church services and at Saturday night socials. The music was played to entertain, to celebrate and often to divert attention from bone-chilling cold, hunger and deprivation. To Laura, her family and millions of others, music bound them together in a common experience and shared expression of their humanity. Pa’s Fiddle is an echo from our collective past, celebrating our shared musical heritage. The music is performed by Randy Travis, Rodney Atkins, Ronnie Milsap, Committed, Natalie Grant, Ashton Shepherd and The Roys, accompanied by an all-star Nashville band led by Randy Scruggs.
