2-DVD SET, LOVE FOR LEVON
Dozens of luminaries from rock, soul, and country—artists as diverse as Roger Waters, Mavis Staples, and My Morning Jacket—gathered at the Meadowlands’ Izod Center on October 3, 2012, to pay their collective respects in an incredible final tribute to Levon Helm, longtime drummer/singer/mandolin player of the Band, who passed away six months earlier.

The Love for Levon concert—mounted by producer Keith Wortman and Don Was—was an opportunity to say a rousing farewell and, in the process, raise funds to continue the Midnight Ramble series of concerts started by Levon and his band seven years earlier at “The Barn,” his famous home studio in Woodstock, New York.

One at a time, or sometimes in pairs, music royalty took turns in the spotlight over the course of the evening, singing songs associated with Levon Helm and the Band, including Up on Cripple Creek, The Shape I’m In, Life Is a Carnival, Ophelia, The Weight, Rag Mama Rag, Ain’t Got No Home and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.

The 27-song set includes performances by Warren Haynes, Gregg Allman, Roger Waters, My Morning Jacket, Joe Walsh, Robert Randolph, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Jakob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Grace Potter, John Mayer, John Hiatt, Mavis Staples, Bruce Hornsby, John Prine, Garth Hudson, Joan Osborne, Marc Cohn, Jorma Kaukonen, David Bromberg, Amy Helm, Rami Jaffee of the Wallflowers, and Mike Gordon of Phish.

Bonus Material: Besides the 17 additional performances not in the broadcast concert (27 songs in all), the 2-DVD set contains over an hour of in-depth artist interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.
